Accessibility at UI-CON 2026
Accessibility at UI-CON 2026
The UI-CON staff wants everyone’s convention experience to be fun and worthwhile. Whatever your limits, we’ll do our best to help keep it from being an issue. If you have any questions regarding Accessibility before the convention, please email us at ui.con.accessibility@gmail.com. During the convention, please visit the Accessibility, Safety, and Well-Being (AS&W) station in the Con Ops room if we can assist in any way.
· The venue for this year’s UI-CON is the iHotel and Illinois Conference Center. This is a modern building built for accessibility.
· All of our convention events, hotel registration, and Houlihan’s restaurant are located on the main (ground) floor.
· The hotel has 8 ADA compliant / accessible rooms, and all rooms are equipped with visual fire alarms. On site accessible self-parking and complimentary valet is available.
· Accessible restrooms are available throughout the convention space. A family restroom is located across from the Artist & Vendor Hall. Two gender-neutral bathrooms are located near the Maid Café. (Please see the convention map for exact locations.)
· If you need a break from the excitement and noise of the convention, we invite you to visit our Quiet Room. Feel free to use the provided comfort items, but please leave them in the room and be considerate of fellow visitors.
· For those with mobility, hearing, or other limitations, priority seating is reserved near the front of Main Stage and our Panel Rooms. These spaces are marked with yellow tape.
· UI-CON is working towards providing Live Captioning in Main Stage and our Panel Rooms. We will be testing this year, for full implementation next year.
· If you have hidden disabilities or wish anonymity, please see the AS&W team member on duty in Con Ops. We can provide a priority access marker for your convention badge. With this marker, any staff member will be happy to escort you to priority seating, no questions asked.
· All entertainers and presenters have been asked to use their venue’s microphone to help them speak loudly and clearly. If they forget, don’t hesitate to raise your hand and ask them to please use the microphone. Also, to make this easier, handheld “Use the Microphone” signs are available in the venues and at the AS&W Station in Con Ops. Stop by and request your own fan if this would be helpful for you.
· Service Animals are allowed. Well-behaved Emotional Support Animals are also allowed, but the owner is responsible for any damages. Please visit our AS&W station in Con Ops if you have an animal and wish to notify us of their presence.
Thank you for reading this Accessibility information. We look forward to seeing you at UI-CON!
