UI-CON Prop & Costume Policy 2024
Introduction
Hello UI-Con Attendees! Below are our policies and guidelines that you must follow while attending our convention.
All props are required to be checked in at the Prop Check-In in the registration/badge pick-up room. Any props seen in convention rooms without the colored tie attached to them will be asked to be checked in or confiscated.
UI-Con will be following the University’s policy on weapons: Student Discipline - Possession or Storage of Weapons
Additional policies:
Shoes must be worn at all times - even if the character you are cosplaying does not.
Body paint must be dry and sealed - any damage done to the venue itself or the furniture will result in damage expenses.
Costumes and Props may not display any vulgar language or images.
Metal props with points or blades are not allowed, even if they are blunt. If you choose to bring a sheathed sword with a metal blade, the casing will be closed with zip ties. If the prop is opened under any circumstances, it will be confiscated by convention staff.
Real firearms are not allowed.
Life-like gun props are not allowed. This includes airsoft guns or anything painted to look like a real gun.
Real bows or crossbows are not allowed. If your prop is made to resemble these weapons, it may not have any ammunition or be firable in any way.
Please remember that if your costume or prop causes mobility issues, you must have a handler for support.
If you have any questions, please view our FAQ or contact con staff at this email ui.con.questions@gmail.com at the earliest opportunity.
Thank you for reading our Prop Policy, and we will see you all at UI-Con in March 2024!
